On Fuel 6.0 some disk controllers don't get recognized

Asked by EP KOMARLA

Observing an issue while using Fuel 6.0 - during OpenStack deployment using Fuel 6.0, some disk controllers don't get recognized. As a result, disks connected to the controller will not be seen. When you restart the server, sometimes the problem goes away. In some cases, you will have to try few power cycles to see the problem go away. Do not see this problem in Linux or Windows - when you do soft resets or hard resets - always all controllers come up.

We have updated the controller firmware and system BIOS to the latest versions

System:
SuperMicro 2U server - model 2027R-AR24NV-OTO-70
PCIe Storage Controller - LSI MegaRAID (3 of them)
Disks - SAS disks - 18 connected to 3 controllers

Question: Have you noticed this issue in your lab? This issue is hurting us to deploy all the servers in the lab using Fuel. Any help or pointers will be appreciated.

Thanks,

- epk

Hi,

Can you provide results of "dmesg" on these disk controllers? I know that you don't see the issue in Linux itself, but I want be sure.

Can you also provide the content of /var/log/nailgun-agent.log on each controller? These logs will let us to investigate possible problems in detecting hardware by Fuel.

Thanks,
Michal
