update Mirantis IceHouse to juno

Asked by abdullah

Hi,
I have Mirantis IceHouse environment (fuel 5.0.1), and I would like to update the cluster to Juno. I know fuel have experimental update feature, but it will only update from IceHouse to new IceHouse release. So, I find this guide:
http://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ops/content/upgrade-icehouse-juno.html
Before trying to update, I have some concerns. First, do I need to re-configure the pacemaker after updating the openstack packages? and If so how to do it?. Also, is there any special requirements for Mirantis openstack update which are different from the steps shown in the above guide?

Hello Abdullah,
what Fuel supports, is the upgrade of the master node from 5.0.1 to 5.1: https://software.mirantis.com/prior-releases/
The 5.1 for Icehouse upgrade package upgrades 5.0.x to 5.1, while 5.1.1 for Icehouse upgrades 5.1 to 5.1.1.

To upgrade the OpenStack cluster itself, we're releasing the experimental project Pumphouse https://www.mirantis.com/blog/upgrading-openstack-workloads-introducing-pumphouse/

The upgrade of OpenStack releases is not always an easy matter.
Pacemaker should already work after a restart, if you make a minor upgrade (to 5.1.1 for instance).

Best regards,
Fabrizio

I would like to upgrade my current icehouse cluster to juno. I use fuel for my deployments, I also know there is pumphouse to be able to move workloads from source to destination. I have two questions:

1. as of Nov 2014, pumphouse has no support for Cinder. Is this the case still or has that changed?
2. When using pumphouse to migrage workloads, where do I install pumphouse? do I install it on current fuel master or create a new fuel master and install there?

Thanks in advance for the help
