Need "Virtual Storage" paritions with Ceph-backing all?

Asked by Joshua Dotson

In 5.0.1 do we need "Virtual Storage" paritions with Ceph-backing all possible services? Is 120GB of virtual storage enough per node? Nodes have 2x3TB drives for Ceph OSD and 1x240GB SSD for all else. Nodes have 256GB RAM and 12 physical cores.

Thanks,
Joshua

Greetings Joshua,

If the full formatted file system size of each of the images you are going to use does not exceed 120G - then it would be sufficient.
Actually, most images has only 20-40 GB file system.
Virtual Storage still required, if I remember well, for image export outside Ceph.

As workaround you may set the Virtual Storage size to smaller value and temporarily mount bigger storage instead of Virtual Storage partition right before the import/export operation, which require more free space on temporary storage.

Kind regards,
Miroslav
