Magnetometer value when the board is parallel to earth

what should be the Range of magnetometer axis x,y,z (i-e mx,my,mz) value when board is Parallel to the earth surface before passing to the sensor fusion Algorithm Function ? like accelerometer gives(x=0,y=0, z=256)

This is impossible to say. The Earth magnetic field is distorted and not parallel to the ground. So, the only way to check if the magn is ok, is to rotate it in 3d.. something like this is explained in http://www.varesano.net/blog/fabio/first-steps-hmc5843-arduino-verify-accuracy-its-results
