Drift on the vC.4r3

Asked by Derek Kinsman

I've seen a few posts about constant drift and I think the issue might be the gyro. I'm not entirely sure. It's running FreeIMU_quaternion example on the Arduino (1.0.1) and the FreeIMU_cube Processing (2.0a6) sketch.

As for the set up, it's currently attached to a Arduino Mini Pro and is stuffed into an anti static bag to reduce any interference.

Any help would be amazing.

Here's a link to a video of it happening: https://plus.google.com/112062600712824504163/posts/FupThbtAecJ

Thanks and cheers,
Derek.

Hello Derek, the problem is calibration.. and I'm currently working on it. I'll be releasing a new version of the FreeIMU library soon which will come with magnetometer, gyroscope and accelerometer calibration routines.

A good to know. Is there a more specific release time than soon? Or do you have a publicly accessible repository on Github or here? Just curious.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear it's a software thing and not a hardware thing. :)

You can get the sources from https://launchpad.net/freeimu/trunk or using bzr:
bzr branch lp:freeimu

The hot calibration stuff is in libraries/FreeIMU/calibration/ ... these are under heavy development right now. Please get in touch with fvaresano on skype if you wanna help.
