No Global Color option in Caja (Mint 18 MATE)

Asked by Robert Roper

I understand from the download site and from several articles that this extension supports changing folder colors globally, but the option is not available when I right-click on a folder. I can only change individual folders.

I am using Caja 1.14.1 on a fresh installation of Mint 18 MATE. Is the global folder color option available for this version?

Hi, I think Mint release a fork of Folder Color, but I am not sure if in
MATE version too.
Did you try Folder Color frombthe official PPA?
Best regards

Yes, I am using the official PPA version after first trying the Mint repository package. One thing I noticed is that there seem to be two "folder color" related extensions installed in Caja when I check "Edit > Preferences > Extensions":

* Python: caja-folder-switcher
* Python: folder-color

I didn't know whether these two were related or conflicting, so I tried disabling one or the other. Disabling the first does nothing, and disabling the second (of course) removes all Folder Color functionality from Caja.

Not a huge problem, anyhow -- it just means I have manila folders in Caja instead of green folders. If that's the worst thing about my installation, I'm pretty happy. Thanks for working on this extension!

How you disabled one of them? did you try to uninstall one if them?
Best regards.

Oh, not difficult. In Caja (my version is 1.14.1), "Edit >> Preferences >> Extensions" gives you a list of all installed extensions, with checkboxes to enable or disable. I tried alternatively disabling each of the two extensions I mentioned above, but that wasn't the solution.
