Problem with adding extensions to Firefox

Asked by cieous

I have been trying to add extensions to firefox and although I have been able to do so in the past, I'm having trouble now. This it the error that I'm getting.

Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsISafeOutputStream.finish]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js :: closeSafeFileOutputStream :: line 568" data: no]
Source File: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js
Line: 568

Would anyone know what this means and how to correct this? As mentioned, till few days ago I was able to add extensions and themes without a problem.

Are you attempting to install these extensions from http://addons.mozilla.org? There should be a pop-up that automatically installs extensions for you. Please specify which extension you are trying to install.

Thanks,
Nick

Thanks for responding.

No, I wasn't trying to install the extensions by myself, but automatically, the way I was supposed to.

 But I figured out by accident in the meantime what it is -- I was recently installed and was running Threatfire on my computer. I disabled/uninstalled Threatfire and the problem installing extensions in Firefox stopped. Don't know why, but it worked. Apparently Threatfire and Firefox don't mix very well.
