How to use the Debit Card entry properly?

Asked by Zbigniew Trzepizur

Hi

I'm not sure I understand the point in creating a Debit Card account in Financisto. I didn't find the way it works any different than the cash account. I mean, what I expected was to be able to associate the card with a particular bank account and the transactions made using it to directly debit the connected bank account while being visible under the Debit Card account in Blotter as well, just like in the real life. What I was able to achieve instead, was either to register the operation to the Debit Card (non-existent) "account" or to select the bank account during the transaction details entry, which in turn is showing up only as a bank account operation, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a debit card defined in the app in the first place. Both of these behaviors don't seem to have much sense to me unless I'm missing something or doing something wrong but to me it looks like the "debit card" option is pretty much redundant and the only difference is the icon. Could someone correct me, please, if I'm wrong?

Best regards
Zbig

Hi Zbig,

All you said holds true. There is no difference in the logic between Debit card and, say, Cash account. Financisto doesn't hold a link between Card account and Bank account. This is definitely a feature we should look at, thank you for pointing this out.
