Budget amounts at category level

Asked by Dannie Facey

I define my monthly budget by defining and tracking amount spent in each category. I would like to be able to define a monthly budget, add the categories and the amounts and then have the transactions be associated with budget categories so that I can track the amount being spent in each category per month or custom time period and also be able to see the amount remaining. The budget should be able to be recurring but I would need to be able to adjust budget amounts for the categories each month. If it cannot recurring, at least I should be able to create a budget from an existing budget and modify the category amounts and add new categories as necessary. This functionality exists in the easymoney app but financisto is much better in that I can define multiple budgets and specify a custom start and end period which is exactly what I need. The only thing missing for me in financisto is the ability to define category amounts for each budget and track the spending at the category level. Can this functionality be added? This would be awesome and make the app perfect. Thanks

Why not create a separate budget for every category? There is a total in Budget List to track the total spending/remaining amount.

Thanks. That's will work. I'll lose the ability to see distinct budgets say for instance I have a personal budget and a budget for an external project i am tracking. But this is a good work around for now.
