Meshes of higher dimensions supported?

Asked by gsmith

Hello,

I just want to check whether the FEniCS project is something I will consider for implementing a certain model but could not find the information right away: The model is given by a PDE on an at least four-dimensional domain. Can FEniCS handle such domains or is it restricted to d=1,2,3?

Best regards
G. Smith

There is currently very experimental and rudimentary support for finite element spaces defined via tensor products, thus enabling (in theory) arbitrary high dimensional domains if these have a global tensor product structure. However, I wouldn't say that it is ready for use yet. Hopefully it will mature significantly in the early spring.

Can you help with this problem?
