Help with Bellsouth email

Asked by Clyjohns

Need help setting up my BellSouth.net email.
I am using Evolution and Thunderbird. Both work great on the POP side with mail.bellsouth.net
However, I can not send mail. I receive the error message:
RCPT TO <email address hidden> failed: Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
I am using mail.bellsouth.net as the SMTP server and have tried every configuration I can think of. Could someone walk me through this step by step. I only switched to Ubuntu a couple of days ago and I love it so far!

I am having this problem as well. I can confirm that using the webmail to send mail works, just not with Evolution.

Some additional information:

If I send a mail to a @bellsouth.net it works fine. However, anywhere else fails.

I have AOL & Bellsouth. I want to eventually drop AOL. Therefore I would like to set up an e-mail address with BellSouth and have BellSouth as my home page.

Thanks!!

How do I set up Evolution?

I'm a former Kmail user and just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 and chose Evolution.

It doesn't seem to work other than receiving the initial "Greetings."

Can you help with this problem?
