Need to edit item status of materials in a status mode other than current allowed statuses (repair,available).

Patron returns book in person to main branch library at carteret county public library. The patron informs staff the book has pre-existing damage. The home library of the book belongs to our local county system, and currently not on hold. Once the book is checked in, we print a transit slip (automated). Since the main branch is where we do book repairs and book orders, we are to change the status to repair, however when the book has a check out status or in transit status, we are not able to make further edits to item status. Please add the ability to change item status to repair for books that may need to be re-routed to wherever our tech services take place.
