example problem using gmsh

Asked by M K SINGH

Dear Dion,
I am wondering if you have some example problems done with ESyS using meshing tool gmsh. I am able to do the hopper flow example in the tutorial, but I did not understand completely how opening of hopper (from where material is passing) has been implemented. Do you have some example (for example conical shape hopper or cylidrical shape hopper ) where you have used gmsh to mesh and do the granular flow simulation using Gmsh? Frankly speaking I do not understand how to provide opening condition in ESyS (from where material can pass), therefore I am asking this questions. I would like to give a suggestion, I do not know if users will like it or not. Since we, users, are using ESyS, why we do not put some example movies or scripts somewhere on the internet or on the launchpad so that ESyS users can see these examples and benefit from each other.
Thanks in advance.
M K Singh

Hi MK,

Have you looked at my FAQ on making mesh walls with gmsh? The link is:
https://answers.launchpad.net/esys-particle/+faq/683

You may also find the presentations and scripts for the recent Workshop in Aachen useful. There's an example of simulations for flow of particles through a conical hopper mesh that was created with gmsh (very similar process to that described in the FAQ). The link to the Aachen Workshop wiki is:
https://twiki.esscc.uq.edu.au/bin/view/ESSCC/DemKurzAachen2009

A couple of other users have also suggested to have a website or wiki to share scripts, movies etc. It's a good idea. I've not had time yet to find a suitable website to host that as launchpad doesn't provide a suitable service for this kind of thing. I'm happy for any ideas you might have for a suitable website.

Cheers,

Dion.
