How to create cavities in walls?

Asked by Ripudaman Manchanda

I am new to ESyS-particle and want to know how to create a cavity in the bottom wall of a sample box to simulate my sand control project.

Is it possible to simulate the flow of fluids through a packing of unconsolidated spheres?

Hi Ripudaman,

Thanks for your interest in ESyS-Particle.

There are two types of walls in ESyS-Particle - Simple planar walls and triangle-mesh walls. To simulate a wall with a cavity, you would need to use a triangle-mesh wall in which the wall and cavity consists of a mesh of triangles. If you need help to construct a mesh wall, please let me know.

Regarding your other question, currently ESyS-Particle does not have the facilities to simulate coupled fluid-solid problems although we would like to extend ESyS-Particle in the future so that coupled problems may be simulated.

Cheers,

Dion.
