The ESyS-Particle Community Wiki is not available

Asked by toyunki

Hello,

I am a new user of ESyS-Particle and working on the Tutorial section 3.1.3 : Hopper flow.

I was trying to generate and import a triangulated mesh file and found an important FAQ here : https://answers.launchpad.net/esys-particle/+faq/683

However, the Wiki and documents suggested in the FAQ are not available. How can I access the website and documents?

The documents I am looking for are as follows.
1. A step-by-step guide to construct a mesh:
http://www.esys-particle.org/files/Gmsh_tutorial_for_ESyS-Particle.pdf

2. Python script to convert the file into the ESyS-Particle trimesh file format
http://www.esys-particle.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Gmsh2TriMesh

It will be really helpful if I can access those documents.

Best Regards,
Toyun

Hi Toyun,

Unfortunately, the ESyS-Particle Community Wiki was taken down by the web hosting service without warning some time ago. I am in the process of constructing a new website.

In the meantime, I have updated the FAQ to provide more updated instructions on how to construct triangle meshes suitable for ESyS-Particle simulations:
https://answers.launchpad.net/esys-particle/+faq/683

In recent years, a number of very capable open source CAD packages have become available that are, in my opinion, much easier to use than gmsh. Consequently I have written a script (provided in the FAQ linked above) that will convert from a common mesh file format (STL) into ESyS-Particle mesh file format. I have used this script many times to construct and import triangle meshes into ESyS-Particle simulations.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Dion
