Graphic display?

Asked by Kan

Hi, I enter into the directory of :
kan@Ken-lap:~/Desktop/dem/esys/esys-particle/Python/esys/lsm/doc$
then run the command:
mpirun -np 5 `which mpipython` GravityTut.py
but I can not see any output, where is the output data?
and also is there any way that can display the output in a graphic display , or is there any example that has a graphic output display?

Thanks.

Kan

Hi Kan,

ESyS-Particle does not have a graphical display. It is designed to run in batch mode on cluster supercomputers where having a graphical frontend would be impractical.

The reason you see no output when you run GravityTut.py is that this script does not specify any type of output. There are a number of ways data may be output either as text files or images. I recommend that you work through the new ESyS-Particle Tutorial Guide as this issue and many others are covered there. The Tutorial is available for download from:
http://www.uq.edu.au/~uqdweath/ESyS_Particle_Tutorial.pdf

Although not complete, this Tutorial should give you a good introduction to scripting simulations and how to output data in various ways. The tutorials available via the ESyS-Particle Python API website and in the source code are out-dated and will be removed in a later release.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Dion.
