What is Orientation Quarternion Q0,Q1,Q2,Q3 In Rotsphere CheckPointer?

Asked by Shu-xiao Tsai

 Dear All,
I'm a new user of ESys, and I have a question about the Rotsphere CheckPointer.
My new question is what Orientation Quarternion Q0,Q1,Q2,Q3 In RotSphere CheckPointer is ? (mentioned in Question #73169 2009-6-03)
As we all know, Euler angle ,with only 3 parameters, is often used to protray the orientation of an object.
    Best regards,
    Tsai

Hi Tsai,

Quaternions are an alternative way to mathematically represent orientations and rotations of objects in 3D. Quaternions have some advantages over Euler angles for the type of calculations performed in the various rotational particle-pair interactions.

More information about quaternions is available here:

Cheers,

Dion
