Could I observe 2d-particles by pov-ray?

Hi ,
    I'm a new one here. Recently,I want to simulate a simple 2d problem. And my question is how can I see the simulation of 2d-particles step-by-step.
    As far as I know, POV-ray is a 3d-viewer tool. Do I need to read the data of simulation and draw the particle by other softwares?
