How to apply boundary of seismic acceleration

Asked by Henry

Hi, All,
I want to use the Esys-particle to simulate the failure process of the slope under earthquake conditions. However, I can't find the function for the application of the seismic acceleration?
Is there anyone who has used this function? Thanks a lot!

There is no function to directly apply an acceleration to a wall. The best option is probably to use displacement controlled boundary conditions, i.e. move the wall using moveWallBy. If you want force / stress controlled boundary conditions you need to use applyForceToWall .

Thank Steffen.

May be I can apply a stres controlled boundary conditions on the bottom of the slope. However, wich kind of boundary conditions I can apply on the side boundary of the slope?
Thanks a lot !

What exactly do you mean by "side slope" ?

Hi, Steffen.
The "side boundary of the slope", I mean the horizontal boundary of a slope boundary.
And how can I aplly a boundary condation that changes with the time. such as apply a velocity controlled boundary conditions that changes with the time to simulate the acction of the earthquake.

Thanks a lot!
