User name design and epoptes

Asked by Thorsten

Hi !

I'm using Epoptes on a Edubuntu system for a elementary school.
For this I created a user called "students" and "teacher".
"teacher" is in epoptes-user-group.
Each time a LTSP Client is logging in, Epoptes tells me that the other user has been disconnected.
It seems that there can be only ONE "student" user.
Is that correct ?

I hope to get some answers :-)
Thank you very much

Greetings,
Thorsten

Do you mean that you are using the same "students" user to login simultaneously to many ltsp clients?
It's not good practice, many applications have issues with that, so create many users, like student1, student2 etc.

Hi, thanks for your answer ! You would suggest to define about 40 users for 40 computers ? Is this common practice in ltsp ? Of course, I think epoptes would work great. But I did not know that I have to do this in ltsp.

Not only it's common practice, but it's absolutely necessary, otherwise many applications (not related to Epoptes or LTSP) malfunction.

I'm marking the question as Invalid in Epoptes, as it's not related to it.
