auto reconnect

Asked by Stasia

Hello, I teach computer science in high school and this tool is a must have! But everytime I install Epoptes I have to rewrite this piece of code (http://bit.ly/29J54W1) to make clients reconnect if the connection fails. Why wouldn't you just add it by default?
Thank you.

It sounds like you have an old Epoptes version, what does it say in Help > About, and which Ubuntu version do you have?

Indeed, I installed 0.5.10 and the clients are able to reconnect now!

But I got this new problem: after reconnecting a feature to broadcast my screen to the client isn't working. I can still send a url or control a client, however. I tried to reboot both systems but broadcasting just doesn't work. It's Ubuntu 16.04 on both.

And also, if I want to access client by pressing Enter instead of clicking button, mouse on a client doesn't work.

I'm not sure I understand you correctly.
You said that you installed 0.5.10 and that you have Ubuntu 16.04.
But Ubuntu 16.04 already has 0.5.10...

If you press Enter while a client is selected, you invoke the "Monitor user" function, not the "Assist user" function.
That's why then you cannot type or move the client mouse from VNC.

I was experiencing the auto reconnect issue with epoptes throughout the year(s) with different versions of ubuntu, so I just assumed the problem persists in the new epoptes version as well. Thank you for fixing this. And it would be perfect if it was assisting, not monitoring binded to the Enter key.
