A question about indexing

Asked by Fazil

I have little understanding from the docs. And I understood that SQlite is the backend used in Entertainer. And I heard about indexing files. I heard that it happens in the backend.

Nowadays the desktop has indexed search facilities in the default desktop. Will the indexed information by these programs(beagle, tracker) be used while indexing files in entertainer.

I just asked because I felt that would make indexing more faster and less redundant.

Fazil, thanks for the question. Entertainer uses its own indexer because the program keeps its own database of data. Tools like beagle and tracker, although they do index files, they don't keep the information that Entertainer requires. Entertainer's indexer pulls out information about the media files that it scans (like artist, album, track, lyrics, actors, directors, etc).

Beagle/Tracker don't do this, therefore, they are not tools that we can use. Ultimately, it's two different types of indexing. I hope this answers your question.
