Tray Icon for the backend?

Asked by Marc Boivin

I think it would be great to have the option of a tray icon for the backend. When updating the cache, a lot of resources are used and notifying the user about what's going on would be a nice treat usability wise.

Btw, I really like the project. Wouldn't mind spending time coding for it. I'm not a python guru, but I really like the language and it's really easy to get the hang of it. I'm a student in computer science and I really enjoy developing. So if you need a hand, feel free to ask.

Actually there is a buggy tray icon already! The bug is that you can't really quit it. :) But you are right, indexing is very heavy at the moment and it would be nice to notify user about that.

Please, send me e-mail if you want to participate.

Glimps,

Thanks for the input. We solved this question when we fixed bug 224718.
