Unable to use STS (Spring Tool Suite)

I have encountered the below issue in elementary OS 4.0 Loki (64-bit).
The issue repeated after reinstalling the OS as well.
My hardware: Quad-Core Intel® Core™ i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz, 16 GB RAM.

After launching the latest STS (Spring Tool Suite, Eclipse 4.6.2 based), the OS is immediately getting slower and slower and freezes after all, so I can only restart the machine physically with the power-off button.

I would like to ask if you if you are aware of this issue, and if you know about a possible workaround.
I have found on Internet similar and older issues related to Eclipse which were solved via modifying eclipse.ini, still I could not find much say about STS.ini.
