Font does not show as expected.

I've installed many other fonts and they are doing well but I've got a problem installing the font "monaco". I've tried it installing both with font viewer and font-manager, not a chance. System says the font is installed but font characters does not show as expected. And one strange thing: sometimes pantheon halts when installing the font "monaco" (crtl+alt+f2 gets me to terminal and terminal works ok, but the graphic environment shows only the mouse icon and nothing else).
