How can I automount external devices / drives?

Asked by Bingo Bones

How can I automount external drives / devices?

The lack of automount is the only thing that makes me miss and think about returning to Ubuntu.

Thanks for your time.

Hello,

It it possible to add the software from the ubuntu software center. which you can find in applications (left upper corner)
open software center typ disks in the search bar and install this.

Than youm can follow this answer http://askubuntu.com/questions/451503/14-04-not-auto-mounting-external-drives-since-upgrading-from-12-04

Kind regards,
Kay

Thanks very much for the reply and the suggestion. Unfortunately this solution seems to be intended for drives you want mounted at start up. Which is perhaps why I can't get this to work with my blu-ray / dvd drive. Nor will it work with random USB stuff like e-readers, flash sticks, SD cards, audio players, phones and tablets.

I just wish there was a simple option to enable / disable automount. Not providing the option to automount does seem like a very strange decision to me.

If you or anyone else has any other ideas or suggestions they'll be very much appreciated.

Thanks for your help and your time.
