Invert/negative screen

I've tried the following approachs.

xcalib -invert -alter -display

This only works on one screen(I run two screens) and does not work with Redshift.

compiz. I can't get the Negative plugin to start.

sudo apt-get install compiz compiz-plugins compizconfig-settings-manager compiz-plugins-extra

Even if I try a new shortcut command it doesn't work.
