No package 'ubuntu-restricted-extras' found

Asked by victor carvalho

Hello,

I'm kind new in linux and just installed Elementary OS and I already got stuck in a problem: I'm trying to install 3rd part softwares to play Mp3 and another codecs via ubuntu-restricted-extras package but I can't install that.

The error is:
'
$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
Reading package lists... Ready
Building dependences tree
Reading state information... Ready
E: Impossible to find ubuntu-restricted-extras package
'
I translated that from another language, sorry if something is miss translated!

Thanks,
Victor.

Go to Ubuntu Software Center > edit >software sources and make sure the top 4 checkboxes are ticked (main, universe, restricted, multiverse). then run

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
