~elementary vs ~elementaryos

Asked by Trung Ngô

I see that on Launchpad, there's ~elementary [1] and ~elementaryos [2]. What's the difference between these two pages?

[1] https://launchpad.net/elementary
[2] https://launchpad.net/elementaryos

https://launchpad.net/elementary is more of an overview, it simply groups together all of the projects that are used.

https://launchpad.net/elementaryos is a single project which contains build scripts and other stuff.

Hmm, I see. Still, it's very confusing, especially for newcommers. Who knows where a bug/question/blueprint should go between these 2 pages.

Ngô, the elementary project is actually a metaproject. This means if you go to report a bug or blueprint there, it'll ask you to specify a subproject, like elementaryos, noise, etc. The elementary project simply aggregates all subproject items into one view for better tracking and management.

Don't forget that elementary is a project made up of several apps, an OS, an icon theme, a GTK theme and much more.

elementary OS actually refers to the operating system we're currently developing.
