Appearance change in slingshot

What I know as slingshot launcher has been radically changed with luna. Instead of the OS X-like transparent overlay it is more like a traditional menu. Has the former look been completely abandoned or does it still exist under another name? What version of changed the appearance?

On launchpad.net/slingshot you can no longer find the old Slingshot.

However, I heard that there was an article (on webupd8?) somewhere that posted the old Slingshot version.

The new version is, though, highly recommended.

Can you help with this problem?
