Is zeitgeist, and the „Privacy” section necessary?

Asked by Bence Lukács

I hadn't found any application which take advantage of the zeitgeist daemon, and I had wondered if zeitgeist would be implemented in the future? Then I found this question: https://answers.launchpad.net/elementaryos/+question/209181, and I have to ask you, if zeitgeist and the Privacy section of the System Settings necessary at all? I can't see any advantages for being installed on Luna. If it really unnecessary, then could it be possible to remove it?

<codygarver> Munchor: scratch writes to zeitgeist and slingshot is supposed to so I think that's reason enough to keep it

That's what I found out. Scratch uses Zeitgeist.

Regarding the Privacy section, since Scratch uses Zeitgeist, I believe it remains necessary.
