elementary-tweaks won't load. How to debug?

If I click the Tweaks-icon in the Systemsettings, a loadingscreen is shown, which never ends. How can i check what's going on in the background?

syslog just says:
tweaks[30999] trap int3 ip:7f599561bf9b sp:7fff14cfd810 error:0

when I click the icon

Run switchboard from a terminal (don't type the $, it just represents the prompt):

$ switchboard

Then, click on "Tweaks" and look at the output in the terminal.

yes, it didn'T start, because pantheon-files was not installed. I removed it, because it interferes with the name for the icon of Nautilus. They both are called "Files".

Unfortunately, for the time being, elementary-tweaks requires that pantheon-files be installed.

If you'd rather not, there are other ways to customize elementary.

Many desktop, software, and system settings can be accessed through dconf-editor, which must therefore be used with caution.

For most of the options you'd use elementary-tweaks to adjust:
Open dconf-editor, click ">org", then click ">pantheon" and look around carefully.

For more of the theme and behavior-related options that affect GNOME and Pantheon:
Open dconf-editor, click ">org", then click ">gnome", then click ">desktop" and look around very, very carefully.

I'd look up whatever settings you want to change in google first, then hunt them down in dconf-editor. It can be difficult to find information on Elementary-specific settings at the moment, since much of the Luna suite is new.

I want to add that I've got pantheon-files installed, side-by-side with nautilus.
(I've also purged and re-installed pantheon-files to be more safe, but nothing changed)
