Why do only ~10% of all my Ekiga calls get an echo from sip:<email address hidden>?

I am using Ekiga 3.2.0 on Ubuntu 9.04. When I call sip:<email address hidden> I will get only an echo in ~10% of all calls. In 90% not; RTP packets are not returned as I found out using '~$ tcpdump -i eth0'. There was also a similar message in the terminal's output where I started '~§ ekiga -d 4'. What messages in a terminal output of '~$ ekiga -d 4' should I look for to find the culprit?
My configuration is detailed in Launchpad bug #395594.
What further tests should I make to find out?
