Using External Mail Proxy with EHCP

Asked by R. Morgan

Hi Folks,

I have a machine that runs ehcp and webmin and hosts several family sites. Lately the big 3 have started rejecting emails becausemy ip falls in the residential ip listing. To keep from getting emails bounced back by the big three I need to setup an external email proxy. Name cheap provides an open exchange mail service and I was told that I could use that account as a proxy for emails from that domain. I have already set my MX records in the Name Cheap All Host DNS record. What do I need to change in EHCP/Webmin to get my server to send emails from only that domain from the server's webmail to the name cheap oxmail server?

Thanks for your help!

I can give some info:
* /etc/postifx/main.cf contains a directive relayhost, which is used
for a "mail relay", I am not sure if this is what you want
* ehcp is transparent to almost all server software, such as apache,
postifx, bind-dns; ehcp writes some config of them. so, you can
configure all of them, to use your mail proxy. But, I am not sure how
you can configure for such a purpose.

mx configuration of a domain can be done in ehcp: choose domain, click
"edit dns template"

Thank you for your quick response.

I have a little understanding of DNS and MX records but I am by no means truly knowledgeable.
I have configure sendmail and and other mail server software from scratch before. MDeamond I have a lot of experience with on Windows Servers. So knowing that I can go right to the mail config and not have to worry about ehcp helps a lot.

Thanks again.
