Installation of mini PCI-e 3G modem

Is it possible to install mini PCI-e 3G modem on my smar... netbook? There are listed models I can buy:

Sierra MC8775
Sierra MC8790
Ericsson F3507G
HP un2400 (gobi 1000)
HP un2420 (gobi 2000)
Huawei EM770
Option GTM380
Huawei EM772(WiFi + 3G HSDPA HSPA)
Gobi 2000 Lenovo

(But I see problems with four cross-recessed screws (very thin crest))

The 3G Smartbook ships with an Huawei EM770W (worldwide certified version of the EM770). This module will work with full support from Genesi, but adding the module yourself is at your own risk.

You may test any other module though and we would be very interested in whether it works. Pinouts of 3G modules may be different per-vendor so we can only assure Huawei EM770 (and the W model) at this time.

Thank you. I'll buy and install mentioned model tomorrow, but I'm not sure I will test other modules.

Huawei EM770W successfully installed (I hope, darkblue cable is antenna :)) and tested.

Usefull info for my successors: mini PCI-e slot located under keyboard, so do not try to remove bottom part of the laptop. If you have not suitable screw to fix modem on mainboard, you can use one screw from WiFi card.

Glad you got it working :)

You are correct the little cable in the 3G slot with the plastic protector is the antenna.
