Is the wrapping-independent new?

Asked by Ted_Smith

Hi

Just read the man page for ecryptfs-mount-private and noted the ~/.ecryptfs/wrapping-independent command, which I have not noticed before.

Is this a new feature to eCryptfs (introducted in the last few weeks\months)?

It's been in there for a while now. Sadly, no new features have shown
up recently.

There's not much info about it Dustin. Can you point me in the direction of documentation? As it's just a file I'm not sure where it comes into the overall 'ecryptfs configuration'? During creation of a new user, during an Ubuntu setup?

It's not well documented because I don't really like the feature. I
don't really want to support people using it, honestly. Most eCryptfs
users have enough trouble keeping up with their passphrases, to
through another into the mix is just asking for trouble.

The feature is mentioned in the relevant manpages.

See ecrypts-setup-private(1) and ecryptfs-mount-private(1).
