Can a mount point be on a different device?

Asked by AlexGenaud

Is an unecrypted mount point just like any other fstab mount? Is there any dis/advantage to mounting an encrypted directory on to a directory on a different device?

eCryptfs is a filesystem. It makes no diff where it's mounted, just as it doesn't matter where ext3, ext4 etc is mounted.
