Squid configuration strings with spaces

How can I pass configuration values that contain string to adapter?
Like in modifying example, how do I pass "t h e" instead of "the"?

This is really a question for the Squid Project, but the answer is that Squid currently does not support any quoting mechanism for the custom parameter values. You should ask Squid developers to add such support if you need it.

Meanwhile, you can either use your own encoding (e.g., what URLs use) or pass a name of the configuration file where you can define your own syntax. The best option probably depends on whether you think simple name=value pairs are enough for your adapter.
