EasyKubuntu on CD

Asked by SupaJohn

Hello guys !

I'm using Kubuntu on a off-line computer, and it's really pain to install the restricted codecs...
I was wondering if you could do a CD that would do the same as EsayKubuntu, with the packages included ? there's already an "add-on CD", but it's for Dapper, with both Gnome and KDE apps. I tried to use it, but I got some errors when trying to install some restricted codecs. ("breaks" appears in adept, with libxine-extracodecs for instance).

Maybe an EasyKubuntu, only for KDE, updated for Edgy would be possible. And that would be really great, I could at least have a working system, on which I can read DVDs, play MP3s and so on.

Thanks for your support.

We do not endorse EasyKubuntu. What is it?

and no, we cannot do an add-on cd. it has its own legal problems.

I followed a link from that page : http://easyubuntu.freecontrib.org/

I thought the support would be for both, Gnome and KDE. Sorry.

And about the legal problems, I can't really see where's the difference between proposing a script that install some packages and proposing a CD that install some packages.
The packages remains the same in every case, the breach of non-free licences as well.

But thanks you for your response.

the difference is in providing the tool to do the downloading, (from
another source), and hosting the packages.

I finally bought a DVD set with the packages restricted, main, universe, mutiverse.

I think that would be sufficient for what i want to do.

For those who would like to do the same, I used the website thelinuxstore.ca, here is a direct link http://www.thelinuxstore.ca/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&keyword=ubuntu+complete&inc_subcat=1

I hope it's okay with the link, I'm not giving it to advertise the website, it's just that it's the only website where I could find the complete ubuntu.
