Easyubuntu for Mepis 6.0?

Asked by Graham

I use Mepis 6.0 which uses the Dapper repositories. Is there going to be a Mepis-specific version of Easyubuntu?

someone might choose to port it, but its unlikely to be done by the
EasyUbuntu team.
If you want to do the port join us in #easyubuntu-dev on freenode to
chat about it.

I don't think I'm competent to do it, but I would LOVE to see a version
for Mepis 6.0. Automatix has a Mepis-specific version, but I'd rather
use a safe system such as that of Easyubuntu.

The problem is with me: I just do not like the ubuntu/Kubuntu
installer, and the system uses "sudo" rather than "su" for root access,
and I DO have a root user on my system. Principally, that's why I'm
still with Mepis....

well, portings not (afaik) so hard, its these basic steps:
rebrand it (all easyubuntu -> easymepis)
write a package list (an xml file listing all the packages for the
version of mepis its running on)
repackage it
otehr stuff ....
profit :)

Thanks for that. I might have a bash at it after the weekend...just to
see if it works......

Then I can tell the world that EasyMepis is up and running..

Just the first step in world domination :-)
