Possibilities of adoption to libdvdread-4.1.3+

Hello dvdbackup-Team,

I used to have dvdbackup on my Gentoo-Linux box for quite some time now - and it does a pretty impressive job. However, after some recent upgrades to libdvdread, I had to apply (a slightly modified version of) your DVDFileStat.patch to get dvdbackup 0.4.1 up and running again with Mplayer's libdvdread-4.1.3_p1168.

Now, on Gentoo's bugtracker[1] a little discussion arose.

So, the question stands: Would it be much effort to modify dvdbackup in a way that lets it use different versions of libdvdread without having to patch them?

It even occurs to me, that the (newer) libdvdread from the Mplayer project is now standard for most distros.
