set up a hub

Asked by mathmax

Hello,

I try to set up a hub... I'm novice and I would need some help from experts :)
I installed and launch dshub.
In the settings tab, I filled the "hub host (address)" field with "myip:411"
Then I disactivated the firewall.
I can connect on the hub on local... but when I try to connect from an other PC, I got this message:
"The requested address is not valid in its context."
I tried other hubsoft but I always have the same problem...
What should I do show my hub on internet?

Also I have a backup of an hub with some files and a MySQL database. What should I do to use this backup for the new hub I created?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi,
It is possible that you are behind a router or firewall.
What is your IP address that you fill in the hub settings ?

Your backup files may be from a different hubsoft hence incompatible. What hubsoft did you take them from ?

Piet

Hi

thank you for your answer :)

I deactivated the firewall and yes I'm behind a router, but I forwarded the ports. But the problem is the same...
If I set the address of the hub with myPublicIp:411 I even can't connect locally.
If I set the address to myPrivateIp:411 I can connect locally but still not from an other computer.

I don't know with which hubsoft the backup files were used... I'll ask.

Regards,

max

Hi

Well setting publicIp:411 is clearly wrong because your computer has a local IP so it's impossible to use your public since your router has it.
Try to set Private IP
then check if you can login locally using private IP

after this make sure port forwarding works
Also you can try to start another server ( apache web server or anything that will listen to a port ) , try port forwarding and use site
www.canyouseeme.org to check it
If you cannot see it then its a problem with your network setup/ otherwise its a problem with dshub config.

Hope it works,
piet
