Setup a PPA with latest stable release

Asked by propan0

It would be extremely useful for everyone if there was a PPA that we could use to keep our drush updated through normal means, if there was a PPA we could add to our software sources, which would hold the latest stable release from drupal.org.

This is discussed here, if you care to interact with the drupal ubuntu community =) http://groups.drupal.org/node/23487#comment-271079

I'm not familiar with launchpad to the point of being able to setup such a thing, is this a posiblity?

You could setup your own.

Very true, I tried, sort of, went through the process of signing the Ubuntu Code of Conduct, so I can have my own PPA, but unfortunately I am completely new to the whole packaging and releasing /branching etc process/worflow, so I am reluctant to do this for now... do you know any good tutorials/places to learn such things?

I'm not doing it now like I said, because I would probably make many mistakes doing it and maintaining it... don't want to mess people's install.

There is now a Drush PPA. See https://launchpad.net/~brianmercer/+archive/drush for details.
