Drawers wont start wine appz from the quicklist

Asked by akI

I added some drawers to my unity dash with some multiple launcher.

For example i added a drawers named "Adobe" for my CS6 Suite and put all Adobe apps in here like Photoshop, Fireworks, Prelude etc.

I configured the exec lines of each app because of the "\" bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/drawers/+bug/1036064 and they all work fine if i right click my "Adobe" drawer, then choose "Adobe" (this is where you get the window showed up with your added apps) and finally click on one of my apps, lets say "Adobe Photoshop CS6". So here its working great.

But if i want to start the apps directly from the quicklistmenu for example if i right click on my "Adobe" and directly click "Adobe Photoshop CS6" it does nothing. The app dont start.

I compared the launchers, but as they are running fine when they get started with my first description i dont found any differences between them.

Hopefully someone can guide me through the darkness :-)

Running Drawers 13.3.1 on 12.04 LTS

Wine command lines are always a bit buggy for some reason. I have a drawer with three different wine exec lines:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/ian/.wine" wine "C:\\Program Files\\pDRAW32\\pDRAW32.exe"
wine "/home/ian/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/GeneDoc/GENEDOC.EXE"
wine"C:\\sedfit\\sedfit.exe"

All three open just fine from the drawer, however only the first two work from the quicklist. I tried adding the env WINEPREFIX to the last one, but still it didn't work. Instead, changing it to:

wine /home/ian/.wine/drive_c/sedfit/sedfit.exe

allows it to run just fine. I don't know the details of how Unity launches items from quicklists, nor of wine prefixes and directory structures. I would suggest playing around with these different forms to see what works in your case.

If you want to post the Exec lines here, I may be able to play with similar forms and see if there is more of a common pattern.

Best,
Ian

Well ill play around with the lnk and exe files maybe it something to do with the format of the called files. Its a try :-)

Here is an example of how Adobe Photoshop works fine from the drawer and will not start from the quicklist:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/aki/.wine-PRO-ADOBE-CS6" wine C:\\\\windows\\\\command\\\\start.exe /Unix /home/aki/.wine-PRO-ADOBE-CS6/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Start\ Menu/Programs/Adobe\ Master\ Collection\ CS6/Adobe\ Photoshop\ CS6.lnk

Well got it working but as it seems its related to the lnk files which are not clearly handled in the quicklist. If i directly point to the exe files it works.

Well got it running however as it seems its associated with the lnk documents which aren't clearly treated in the quicklist. If i at once factor to the exe files it works for me as you can see here https://bright-star.com.au/product-category/rockets/

We recognize that the permit fee is $85. So we wanted to soften the sting. So essentially your permit is free.
Although we have three free packs this year- we can't promise you will get to select your own on collection day. We will however do our best!https://bright-star.com.au/

Can you help with this problem?
