Gradient (Bug?)

I know how to use the gradient (and previous post answer is how I do it) - it worked in previous versions (but with difficulty). Now, it doesn't seem to work at all.
I get the "grey" gradient but can't change the color...

I've tried selecting a color from the color chooser and dragging it to: my object, the gradient window, the gradient icon but, nothing seems to work...

Well, I guess I just wasn't doing it right - I got now (needed to select the tiny box on the gradient slider before selecting the new color).
