Blue anchor icon now red?

Asked by tonyx3

Docky just updated to 2.0.0 Alpha 1 with my latest system update. Afterwards, the formerly blue anchor icon in the dock is now red. Is that a feature? Some kind of indicator?

The docky icon is colored based on your GTK theme.

Is that a new feature with the latest update? I'm curious why it changed when it updated, since I haven't changed my GTK theme. Thanks!

What aspect of the theme is the coloring based upon, exactly? My Docky icon is red, but the only part of my GTK theme that's red is the "Close Window" button. The majority of the theme is blue and grey.

Kiran, it looks to me like Tooltips Background.

My Tooltips Background selector is greyed out (I can't change it). However, the color of the icon does change in sync with the "Selected items." Except it seems that when I select anything white, grey, or black, the icon is set to red. For instance, the hex-valued color #969696 results in a red icon, though that value codes for grey.

hm. what theme are you using?

my tooltips background is set to a pale-ish yellow, and it gives me a gold-ish icon.

Aurora Leopard http://fratrip.deviantart.com/art/Aurora-Leopard-Suite-77225475

When I switch to a theme that does allow me to change the Tooltip background, the icon still only changes when I change the Selected items background, and it still won't change to any shade of white, grey, or black (and is red if you select any of them).

My icon is red too (which I happen to like) however, none of my settings specify that colour. I'm using various shades of grey.

The behavior of the Docky icon, indicator lights and gmail-checker-new-messages-number-background (for lack of a more sane descriptor) suggest to me that this is indeed pulling from the 'Selected Items Background' theme value.

I believe it defaults to red for any value where the RGB values are all the same number because the GTK theme selection/modification color-chooser always resets the Hue value to 0 when this is the case.

A functioning workaround is to set one of the blue/red/green values to a number one higher or lower than the other two, then drag the color slider to the color you desire, ala http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3749/workaround.png .

Is there any planned addition of a color-selector in Docky's configuration options? Defaulting to the theme is a great idea for most themes, but an optional 'select your own color' checkbox + value would be nice.

Woo! I'm only 4.5 months late to the discussion (Just started using Docky).

@Taylor, there is a planned addition, in the form of a GConf key. Currently it's only possible to specify the urgent hue manually, but it will be possible to specify the indicator color as well.

For a list of other unexposed settings, please see this wiki page:
