Is there a tasklist for panel mode?

Asked by The Fiddler

According to a comment on bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/docky/+bug/489129 (Clicks go through to desktop in panel mode), "Panel mode pretty much is not implemented. Please ignore it for the time being."

What are the plans for panel mode? Is there a list of unimplemented tasks or features that an external developer can help with?

In all honesty I don't understand why they would implement a feature and they say it isn't important and for us to ignore it. The whole reason why I downloaded Docky was for this feature! I was aware that it was new, but i was hoping that it would be developed into something extremely useful (to me at least). Maybe there should be a few people that work on this feature more often in order to speed up its development, rather than tell us to act like it isn't there...

I read the "act like it's not there" comment in a slightly different way: "the feature is in pre-alpha state, we are still thinking about how to implement it, so it's best for you to ignore it for now. It's not ready for wide consumption."

Since I also consider the panel mode as useful (in fact, as one of the most useful functions of docky), and since this doesn't look like a feature the core developers will start working on right away, I'd like to see if I can contribute some code or otherwise help with its implementation. A rough sketch of what the devs are envisioning for the panel would help get things rolling.

totally. sadly the only thing i could ever help with is theming, because I honestly don't even know what code Docky is written in haha. I found Docky through Digg the other day, and I have been hooked on it ever since. Gnome-Do is the same way, and I'd love to help out either project as best as I could, but like I said, the coding is beyond me.

There is no clearly defined tasklist as we are not even sure what functionality/features we want to implement for panel mode yet. It is still in the design phase basically.

Can you help with this problem?
