Asked by Joe Elliott

Is there a simple way to replace the unity bar in ubuntu with Docky? As in adding the Dash Home button to the Docky lineup?

Dash is part of Unity. You either have Unity (w/ Dash) or you don't.

If you wish to run Docky at the same time, you can. But you can't remove the Unity launcher.

And as far as I know, we can't invoke Dash.

You can install gnome classic session by running:

sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback

in this session, you can run the top panel with indicators, along with Docky. As psybers said, you cannot use the dash when not using Unity.

Works great with Xubuntu/xfce though.

Can you help with this problem?
