Show notification count per app (like iphone)

Asked by josecanciani on 2010-12-29

A lot of the apps today use, for example, libnotify in Ubuntu to show messages.

This is more a question than a bug, but it would be great if Docky could show the notification count for non active apps (example, number of mails received in thunderbird).

In Mac, Fluid transforms webapps into desktop applications with their own icons and shows the notification count. See here to understand what I'm looking for:

Thanks,
Jose.

This question was originally filed as bug #695443.

Prism apparently do the same in Windows and Macs:

What you want is a dock helper. Look into the dockmanager package for more details. Currently no such helper exists for Prism apps.

well, I was actually thinking about any app. But a helper is probably a way to go... too bad it does not exists out of the box. Thanks anyway!
