Indicating multiple instances of same application suggestion

Sorry a suggestion is residing here, but you lack a proper suggestions area!

Anyway, I love having the glowing dots to indicate multiple instances but it stops at two. I thought that adding little circular bubbles to the icon (a la the Skype and Pidgin helpers message indicators) would be really helpful for those of us running multiple Writer instances (for example). So the progression would be like:

1 instance - 1 glowing dot
2 - 2 glowing dots
3 - 1 glowing dot and number bubble at the top right of app icon
